LOS ANGELES MISSION'S ANNE DOUGLAS CENTER RECEIVES NEW COMPUTERS

Formerly Homeless Women to Benefit from New Equipment

June 13, 2006 --- The ten brand new computers sat on desks impassively as the ceremony celebrating their donation took place, but the recipients of the gift were anything but.

The computers were funded for the Anne Douglas Center for Women (ADC) at the Los Angeles Mission by City National Bank and Nestlé. Mission staff members also contributed to the purchase.

The highlight of the short gathering was the appearance by Anne Douglas herself. Mrs. Douglas came with her husband, actor Kirk Douglas. The Douglases were the primary supporters of the creation of the ADC more than a decade ago and remain involved in its operation.

"I am so delighted that City National Bank and Nestle are giving 10 new computers to the Anne Douglas Center's educational and job training program," Mrs. Douglas said. "We have more homeless women now than we ever have before and we are in great need to recognize that."

Mrs. Douglas presented plaques to Stephan E. Robinson, Sr., Senior Vice President, Community Reinvestment of City National Bank, and to Rita Henderson, Manager Educational Programs and Community Affairs of Nestlé. "City National Bank is extremely proud to support the revitalization of the Women's Computer Lab at the Anne Douglas Center to further the efforts of the Los Angeles Mission in assisting those closest to us in our Downtown community," said the Community Reinvestment Department of CNB. "As California's premier private and business bank, we believe in 'Supporting the community on the way up.'"®

"Nestlé is a firm believer in Education. That's why we support educational programs such as Reading Is Fundamental and the LA Mission," said the company. "We believe that supporting people -- including employees and their families, farmers, growers, customers and the community at large is our corporate social responsibility."

Nestlé is the largest food company in the world with over 225,000 employees worldwide and 21,000 employees in the United States. Its corporate Headquarters for the United States is located in Glendale, California.

The computers will be used by formerly homeless women in the Anne Douglas Center for education and job training, to prepare them for life off of the streets.

For over 50 years, the Los Angeles Mission has served the people of Hope Central (known as Skid Row), providing emergency services such as shelter, food, clothing, as well as professional medical and dental services. In addition, the Los Angeles Mission also offers long-term residential rehabilitation programs including education, job training/placement, transitional housing and counseling.
